Special duodiode type D01 PWL

The tube type D01 is special duodiode, for AM regenerative receivers. Structurally this tube is duodiode, with plate electrodes. The anodes are beetween tungsten wire. This wire is used as cathode. The value of vacuum inside this electron device is better than 10-6 Torr. Due to this kind of constructrion this tube could be investigated as triode with special constructrion of electrodes. One of anodes could be used as anode, second as grid, called later "steering electrode".

Form of characteristic of current of anode vs steering voltage was tested during different value of filament voltage. It would be tested very quickly using oscilloscope.

The parameters during testing:

  • Supply voltage 10V
  • Filament voltage 2,95V; 3,20V; 3,80V
  • The amplitude of steering voltage 7,75V
  • resistance in anode: 1000 ohm
  • The sensitiveness of horisontal beam deflection: 2V/div
  • The sensitiveness of vertical beam deflection: 0,1V/div
The characteristic for filament voltage 2,95V:

The characteristic for filament voltage 3,20V:

The characteristic for filament voltage 3,80V:

It's evident, that for positive steering voltage the current of anode is less and less. It's harder for lower filament voltage than for higher filament voltage. For negative steering voltage the value of transconductance is 0,05-0,1mA/V. It isn't bad, for small supply voltage (10V). That's why is possible to construct AM regenerative receiver with this tube.

Example of AM receiver with one tube D01:

    The parameters of tube:
  • diameter 9 cm
  • plate construction of electrodes
  • internal glass wafer (metal-glass connector)
  • tungsten cathode (ca.4V 1,5A)
  • anode voltage 12-35V
  • transconductance 0,1mA/V for anode voltage 10...12V
  • available different versions (with barium geter or non getered tube)
